Dental Implants
What is Dental Implant?
Dental implants are a tooth replacement option where titanium screws (cylinders) are surgically placed into the jawbone in the region of missing teeth. Once in place, they get integrated to the jawbone, allowing your dentist to mount the replacement teeth onto them. Your new tooth, a crown, will look and feel similar to your real teeth. It can be used to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or all of the teeth. The goal of teeth replacement is to restore function as well as aesthetics.

Crown
This serves as a cap for the implant and serves as the newly restored tooth that looks and functions like any normal tooth.
Abutment
This serves as an adapter that connects the implant to the crown.

Dental Implant Process
Step 1 : Extraction
The withered or damaged tooth is extracted in order to make a place for the implant.
Step 2 : Preparation
Jaw bone is prepared and made fit for placing implants. In some cases when the jaw bone is not enough, bone graft is placed to ensure enough bone strength is there to embed the implant upon
Step 3 : Implant Insertion
Surgical Implant insertion is made into the tooth socket by screwing the implant in the region of the missing tooth. After the implant placement procedure is complete the surgical region is stitched and allowed to heal for 2-3 months.
Step 4 : Healing Cap placement
Next, the healing cap is placed atop the implant screw to induce healing of the surgical region’s surrounding gum tissue
Step 5 : Abutment and Crown Placement
After 2-3 weeks the healing cap is removed and finally the abutment is put into place between the crown and the implant screw. This ensures that the crown stays in place throughout.
